Depression Screening Inventory Results

To score your depression screening inventory, count each "capitalized" answer you marked, allocating one point each.

If your score is 3-6:

You may be experiencing some symptoms of mild depression. You should consider possible changes you can make in your lifestyle to reduce ongoing stress. Exercise and diet are extremely important in reducing symptoms of minor depression and anxiety.

If your score is 7-10:

You are likely experiencing the warning signs of moderate depression or anxiety. You are strongly encouraged to see a health professional, either your medical doctor or a mental health clinician, to further evaluate your situation.

If your score above 10:

Your results suggest you may be suffering from a severe episode of depression. It is extremely important for you to consult your primary care physician or a qualified mental health professional as soon as possible.

PLEASE NOTE:

This is not an exact measure of depression. It is merely intended to assist you in examining how you currently feel regarding some common symptoms of depression. Regardless of your score, you should seek professional help if you are concerned about your emotional well-being. It is very important to consider the amount of time you have been experiencing the symptoms you have identified. The earlier you seek professional help for the symptoms of depression, the better your chance for complete recovery.
