Social Phobia
 Click image to go back to Anxiety Disorders. Social phobia is an excessive fear of social or performance situations in which embarrassment might occur. Being in a social situation almost always provokes an anxiety response. Of course, we are all afraid of new situations. But the social phobic is intensely afraid and will go to great lengths to avoid these situations. These people often are seen as intensely shy.
